How I Taught Myself to make my own skincare products

I love a really good skin care product. I’m picky about what ingredients that I use on my skin though. I guess it all stems from when I finally understood the value of using natural skincare products and how it affected my body.
I have tried some pretty amazing natural skincare products in my life. Very amazing, also quite expensive and not really fitting my budget.
I tried lots of diy products that I found on the internet, and they were not really ones that I enjoyed.
I decided to take some skincare courses, get some books, do some research and test out lotion after lotion, lip care products, shampoo bars, hair conditioner, and more. I have recipes that I did not like the feel or the results, and ones that were really, really good, and those are the ones that I plan on sharing with you.

Of course, you will have to do the same, as we have different skin needs and preferences. I let my friends and family try out recipes that I find are good, and ask for honest feed back and then work at making the end product one that everyone really likes.

I thought that if I had to do so much research, that I would love to share what I have found.
So here it is! Too much information for one blog post, but follow along and I will share with you all the things that I have discovered over the last decade of research, creating and trying all the different things that can be made in your home skincare lab.

Start small, make small batches to begin with, even a single batch, then try it out and see how you like it. I always try to have some alternates, or at least easy to find ingredients.

If you live in the UK or in the USA you have so many great resources that you can purchase ingredients from. I am based in Canada, and will begin with sharing my resources that I like, know and trust. I will list resources from other countries from trusted resources, but I have not personally purchased from them, as my goal is to make skincare affordable.

Check out all my posts about natural skincare by either using the search bar, or clicking on “Skincare” in the categories section. Please note; as I build this website I will be adding more and more information, as well as printable recipes that you can download and print up to have the information on hand! I will post all tag all skincare recipes in the categories section!

Here’s a great article to begin with, and rather than rewrite it, I will link it below so that you can read it from the experts! https://formulabotanica.com/making-homemade-skincare/
