Creating your own mineral makeup is both simple (and so inexpensive) and can also be a bit of trial and error, but if you take good notes, and experiment you can successfully make your own mineral makeup!
I learned how to make my own mineral makeup by purchasing “Make It Up: The Essential Guide to DIY Makeup and Skin Care” by Marie Rayma.
I also purchased and love Make Your Own Pure Mineral Makeup from Amazon.
I found that this set of specialized measuring spoons to be super helpful as well! I only use them for formulating makeup.
I highly recommend that you purchase these books first before jumping into making your own makeup. You will also need a notebook to take notes of what colors of micas and oxides you used so that you can recreate any makeup that worked out well for your skin. (and those that did not).
My first makeup trial was foundation. I am still working at getting it just right, and once I get it to my liking I will share how I created it for sure!
I have successfully made mineral makeup blush, so very easy!
I purchased all my ingredients from Voyageur Soap and Candle, you may purchase from your favorite supplier, but these are the exact products that I used to create a really simple and quick mineral makeup blush. (I don’t receive any commission for sharing their products.) Packaging was bought from Amazon (of which I am an affiliate).
Start with their Mineral Makeup Base Powder a little bit goes a long way!
Choose your mica’s for your skin color. You will need a variety of pinks, gold, copper, orange, etc
You will also need oxides to create mineral makeup.
You will need a coffee grinder (used only for blending makeup) .
Here is a simple way to begin! Make your own mineral blush.
Mix one part Mineral Makeup Base to two parts Mica blend of your choice. You will have to play with different pinks and golds and oranges to get the right shade that you like. Just keep the blend part the right ratio to your makeup base.
Mix together a coffee grinder. You will want to place a piece of plastic wrap over the top to prevent the escape of the powders. Blend for a few seconds, stop, tap the grinder holding the cap down, and grind again. Tap the grinder after you have ground the mica and makeup base powder.
Try a small sample onto your cheek and if you like the blend you have made you may package into cosmetic jars.
