Let’s create our own face oil!

Creating your own face oil is a simple and quick! If you are new to creating your own skincare products, here is a great place to begin!

The base recipe for creating your own face oil is:

Base Carrier Oils: May be used up to 99% of the formulation

• Squalane
• Safflower
• Sunflower
• Apricot Kernel Oil
• Jojoba Oil
• Hazelnut Oil

Specialized Carrier Oils:

• Argan Oil-up to 15%
• Avocado Oil-up to 15%
• Black Current Seed Oil-up to 10%
• Borage Seed Oil-up to 10%
• Hemp Seed Oil-up to 20%
• Maracuja Oil-up to 15%
• Pomegranate Oil-up to 10%
• Pumpkin Seed Oil-up to 10%
• Rosehip (Seed) Oil-up to 20%
• Sea Buckthorn Oil-up to 10%
• Tamanu Oil-up to 10%

Essential Oils (recommended for the face) Listed in order of cost-low to high.

• Lavender-anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial
• Tea tree-antiseptic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory
• Geranium-anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, astringent
• Frankincense-anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antiviral, astringent
• Rose-astringent, antiseptic, antibacterial

These essential oils are often used in skin care products for the face, you do not need to use an essential oil, however, you can see the advantages to incorporating them into your formulation. You only need 1% of essential oils in your formulation, so one bottle of your favorite essential oil can go a long way! Here is a basic formulation, written in grams (weight). (Be sure to use clean equipment when creating any formulation. You can sanitize with spraying with rubbing alcohol and letting everything air dry.) Great place to grab your carrier oils is Voyageur Soap and Candle or your own favorite local or online store!

Here is my current face formulation that I use every day, morning and evening. Using Gua Sha tool with this face oil works really well. I am loving these glass dropper bottles too!
